With its connected bracelets without screen, Whoop was targeting athletes until today looking for precise data on their health. Its new trackers, the Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG, are aimed at a wider audience. The objective of the company: to measure the health of its users 24 hours a day.

Are you ready to pay between 199 and 399 euros per year To take care of your health? Long reserved for athletes, the connected bracelets of the startup Whoop today aim for the general public.

It must be recognized that Whoop’s economic model is quite surprising: the equipment is free, but you have to subscribe to use it. A way to distinguish yourself from giants in the sector like Garmin, Coros, Apple or Samsung, especially since Whoop bracelets have no screen. They measure data permanently, algorithms analyze them and an application presents them on smartphone.

The founders of Whoop have a dream: to equip humanity with sensors intended for monitoring their health. On May 8, they announced two new promising bracelets, after the Whoop 4.0 intended for athletes: Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG.

The bracelet that measures your life expectancy

With his new bracelets, Whoop very clearly tries to seduce the general public. We now have 14 days of autonomy in a single load, versus 5 days earlier. A good way to compete with connected watches, to whom we often criticize not to last long enough.

Another idea of Whoop to seduce the general public: to allow its sensor to slip into different styles, to be able to be worn on a soccer field or in a chic reception. The tracker is also smaller, with measures presented as more regular than in the past. The idea is to carry it permanently, then receive many data on your health.

Two new products are marketed simultaneously by Whoop, which naturally reserves the best of them for its most expensive subscription (399 euros per year). In subscriptions at 199 and 264 euros per year, you have to be satisfied with Whoop 5.0:

  • Whoop 5.0: The classic health sensor of the brand with the monitoring of sleep, the physical load, recovery, heart rate, oxygen levels in the blood, skin temperature and monitoring of menstrual cycles and pregnancy. In the mid -range formula, Whoop 5.0 can also estimate the age of the body and predict life expectancy.
  • Whoop MG: A high -end sensor which offers all the functions of the WHOOP 5.0, but also the realization of electrocardiograms and the measurement of blood pressure (after calibration with a conventional blood pressure monitor).

One of the amazing novelties of this new generation, which Whoop unfortunately reserves for its subscription to 264 euros per month, is the Healthspan functionality. It makes it possible to compare your physiological age, calculated by an algorithm, at its real biological age. Whoop uses nine indicators and monitors the evolution of trends to help its users stay young longer. The application also gives advice to maintain your body.

Does Whoop have a chance against tech giants?

Whoop still has a crucial problem: it is not well known. Its name resonates with great sportsmen, but the general public prefers more versatile solutions, such as connected watches. Apple takes the same speech as him on predictive health, with his Apple Watch:

Does Whoop have his chances with his unique positioning? The subscription can be scary, even if it allows you not to pay your equipment. The price of 199 euros per year is more competitive than its previous offers, but it will undoubtedly have to go lower in the future to seduce the general public. Another problem: it is rumored that giants, like Apple, prepare for the launch of a paid service for analysis of health data with AI. In short, Whoop will have work.

In the meantime, it is possible to subscribe to Whoop in France from € 199. The PEAK subscription at 264 € seems to be the best balanced – The one at € 399 seems too expensive for consumer use.
